Which Type of Mold should You Use?
The most popular and practical type of resin molding is definitely silicone. Silicone can be made in any shape and it is one of the only materials that epoxy doesn’t stick to. To extend the lifespan of your mold, we recommend spraying our separating agent spray into the mold before casting your epoxy.
Let the spray work for about 5 to 10 min. Then, whip off the excess spray with a dust-free cloth. The spray creates an invisible film that will protect your silicone and keep it glossy.
Pro Tips: Your epoxy will be matt if you are pouring it into a matt silicone form. If your silicone mold is glossy, your resin will be glossy. If your casting is matt and you would like a glossy finish, there are options. You can either apply a clear coat of resin or a glossy acrylic spray.
